About this site

As explained on the Welcome page, this site is a mostly random collection of things that I cared enough to write about and thought might be of interest to others.  I do not anticipate many drop-in visitors to this site.  I expect that most visitors will arrive here because I shared a link via social media or email.

One motivation for creating this site was to have a place to share ideas in a careful and deliberate fashion. I have been dissatisfied with FaceBook and other social network forums because the fast-paced, back-and-forth dialog too often degenerates into uncivil discourse. My goal for this site is to have all posts and comments exhibit the civility that Os Guinness espouses in The Case for Civility: And Why Our Future Depends on It. I have enabled moderated comments on the blog pages. Feel free to share your thoughts, but please strive for civility as you do.

About me

I am a committed Christian.  I am a husband and father blessed with a wonderful wife and three remarkable daughters.  I feel fortunate to live in the USA – I was born in New Mexico, raised in central Kansas, spent the first part of my career in the San Francisco Bay Area in California, and have lived the last seventeen years in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex in Texas.  I have been educated as an Aerospace Engineer, and I have had the honor of working at NASA my entire career.  I currently manage the NASA/FAA North Texas Research Station near DFW airport.

About the banner image(s)

I intend to use my own photos for the banners on this site instead of stock photos.  The current banner image  is a cropped version of a photo I took on 10 Oct 2001 at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.  That is a really fun event with many wonderful photo opportunities.
